For nearly two decades, ETC’s LDI Student Sponsorship has given students a unique
way to gain experience, make connections and launch a career, and to attend the
LDI tradeshow with all expenses paid. Applications for this year’s Sponsorship are
now available at www.etcconnect.com/LDISpons
orship, and due by 9 June 2017.
ETC’s LDI Student Sponsorship includes a round trip airfare to the LDI tradeshow,
which will be 17-19 November this year, along with hotel accommodation, all
meals, a full conference pass, a student reception to meet people in the industry,
and exclusive ETC swag. Students in their final year of undergraduate study,
graduate students, and students from outside of North America who are studying at
equivalent university levels at the time of the LDI show, and who are studying
lighting design, theatre technology, stage machinery, or closely related fields, are
eligible to apply.
One of the most beneficial aspects of ETC’s LDI Sponsorship is the mentorship
portion. ETC matches each student with a professional who is well-established in the
industry and works in a field that interests the student. The mentors provide
guidance, advice and inspiration as the students finish their schooling and move into
the working world. They can help with everything from giving input on designing a
show, to introducing the students to important connections that could lead to a
career.
Jason Read, a 2007 ETC LDI Student Sponsorship recipient describes his experience
with the programme: “The success in my career is directly attributable to the LDI
Sponsorship, which introduced me to inspiring leaders in the industry and to the
world of architectural lighting. It also led to meeting designers at Walt Disney
Imagineering, which ultimately led to my career here. The ETC LDI Sponsorship
programme is far more than a trip to LDI. It can be a life-shaping experience!’
