Local Meyer Sound distributors Prosound held a two-day training seminar focused on the Meyer Sound brand at the Acts Christian Church, Midrand on 15 and 16 September 2014. The seminar was presented by twenty year Meyer Sound technical support contractor David Dennison.

Dennison is a US audio system designer specialising in Meyer Sound loudspeaker systems with 20 years experience in the PA, cinema and electro-acoustic architectural sectors. He is also a notable audio engineer with 24 years experience in the live mixing and recording domains. He has handled events for Metallica, Pavarotti, Celine Dion and festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival and Outsides Lands Festival while his live mixing credits include Jerry Garcia & David, the Gyuto Monks Tantric Choir and H.H. Dalai Lama.

The seminar commenced with an introduction to Meyer Sound and its founder, John Meyer. Then, the following points were disseminated over the two days:

• The Meyer Sound philosophy.
• Products, including the new flagship LEO and Lyon products.
• Introduction to MAPP (Meyer’s system design software) and practical examples.
• Low frequency steering solutions utilising MAPP.
• Practical sessions for Low frequency steering.
• Q&A sessions.
• Listening tests with the new MINA line array loudspeakers.
