Over the last month, the Southern African Communications Industries Association (SACIA) have been promoting their Theatre and Live Events (TLE) tests and encouraging members to apply for one of the new TLE Professional designations. During that time, 36 people have written and passed either the TLE001 Associate level exam OR the TLE002 Practitioner level exam.

The highest mark in the TLE002 Practitioner exam (87%) was achieved by Nathan Ihlenfeldt from Stage Audio Works, while Chris Grandin from Gearhouse scored the highest mark in the TLE001 Associate exam (86%). Chris also scored an impressive 81% in the TLE002 exam –showing consistency in the results.

SACIA’s initial special offer, inviting members to write the exams at no cost has now come to an end. However, the exams are all available on the SACIA website at affordable rates. The price of the test is R570, with payment via the PayPal payment portal. Once registered, the exam is available to applicants for a period of 30 days.

“SACIA’s new professional designations are a huge step forward for the technical production and live events industry – allowing us to set standards and recognise competence in a structured and meaningful way,’ states Kevin Jones. “Congratulations to those who’ve written the test during the last month; and to those who’ve not yet done so, the challenge is out there. Are you ready to be tested?’ Jones concludes.
