Southern African Communications Industries Association (SACIA) is starting the year
with a series of training programmes relevant to their members in the broadcast and
AV communities. The organisation also states that they are working on developing
new training programmes members active in the theatre and live events sector, as
well as members in the content creation and event safety sectors for the coming year.

“One of the biggest challenges we face in these latter three markets is the shortage of
competent trainers. Many people have the theoretical and practical knowledge needed
to thrive, but simply don’t have the skills needed to communicate this knowledge –
either in a classroom environment or as a mentor to work colleagues. To address this
shortage we’re starting the year with three courses aimed at industry experts looking
to brush up on their training and mentoring skills,’ states SACIA director, Kevan
Jones.

The SACIA will be hosting their Assessor Training programme in Johannesburg from
the 9 – 11 February and the Train the Trainer programme from 13 – 15 February, with
a repeat in Cape Town from the 20 – 22 February.
