Fly Piggy Fly’s new TV production house called Bay Studios recently purchased a Philips Strand 200 Series console, a Philips Strand 6 Pack Dimmer, and LED Wash light panels. DWR Distribution supplied the order.

“We’ve been using the LED panels on a film for a client from Ethiopia,’ said Scott Kelly, partner and Art Director at Fly Piggy Fly. “The client wrote the script and provided the necessary funding, while we did the entire production side. It has been really great using the panels on location. The electricity usage has been minimal, the panels are easy to work with and of course being LED, they don’t let off heat’

Fly Piggy Fly was established by Julie Coetzee in 2008. Their big break came in 2009 when developing a children’s television show on recycling called Garbage Gallery, commissioned by SABC3. The show was the first in-studio TV show to be fully produced in the Eastern Cape.

The Strand Philips 200 will be used for the second series of Garbage Gallery. “The console is simple to operate, has a very good LED interface and will handle all the lighting requirements and will also allow them to expand. The dimmers supplied are small, quiet and reliable,’ comments DWR’s Dave Whitehouse, who also provided the necessary training on the desk.
