Bogen Communications, Inc. is introducing a new low-cost series of modular, drop-
in ceiling speakers for tile grids. The MCD-Series Speakers were designed to offer
contractors and installers a high-quality, less expensive alternative to pre-
assembled drop-in ceiling speakers.
The MCD-Series of speakers are available with 1’ x 2’ and 2’ x 2’ ceiling grilles for
use with drop-in tile ceilings. The speakers come in two parts, speaker module and
grille, which are easily assembled by the installer. Wire connections can be made to
the speaker module either before or after placement in the ceiling.
The fully-enclosed speaker module has a 4-1/2′ full-range speaker with a secondary
high-frequency radiator. Wide coverage angles of 120 degrees produce a broad
sound field for even coverage throughout the listening area. For use with 70V or
25V systems; power taps are 4, 2, 1, 0.5, and 0.25 watts.
The ceiling grilles are constructed of industrial grade steel with a bright-white
powder-coated finish, and include 3 seismic attachment points.
Two different sizes have been introduced, the Model MCD1X2U which measures 1’ x
2’ and Model MCD2X2U which measures 2’ x 2’. Both can be placed in either 2’ x 2’
or 2’ x 4’ tile grids. A separate tile support rail is included for use when necessary.
The MCD Speakers are listed to UL standard 1480 for the US, and standard 60065
for the US and Canada.
