Park Acoustics celebrated their third birthday this year, and in association with Jack Daniels, put together an impressive line-up of artists to celebrate. The gig was held at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria during the last days of May and the roster of bands included the likes of the Springbok Nude Girls, Shadowclub, The Dolfins, and more. Blue Array Productions were tasked with providing the audio, and Stage Effects provided Stage Plus Structures and Lighting.
Blue Array were assigned with the technical for all five stages which the event was showcasing. The audio system had to cater for comedy, bands and DJs. Blue Array admits that the gig “was a tricky one.’ The venue had a very shallow depth, and this afforded unique acoustic challenges which were overcome by using d&b audiotechnik’s ArrayCalc for planning and simulation.
“We decided to do two delay towers with the d&b’s J-Series to compensate for the width of the venue,’ writes Blue Array’s Kobus van Rensburg. “Because of the shallow depth of the venue we used d&b’s Q-Series for the centre hang.’
The d&b audiotechnik equipment provided the necessary efficiency and high-end quality to overcome the issues raised by the venues peculiar dimensions, resulting in an astonishing birthday show.
Park Acoustics is a monthly music concert that showcases some of the best of South Africa’s musical talent.
