A winning combination of live performance, superb production values and
tremendous audience support all combined to make “Beyond Christmas,’ an annual
production held in Germany, a spectacular success. Because of the short rehearsal
time and huge cast of around 400 – children, students and professional and semi-
professional singers – the ability to have creative, scalable and reliable show
control was essential. Long-term technical partner of the event, Daniel Kaminski of
DK Production, chose the new Christie® Pandoras Box 6.0 suite of tools to cope
with the demands of the event and deliver the best possible experience for
audiences and performers alike.

The event celebrates the season of goodwill in a series of vocal performances that
combine entertainment, live performance and education. Having used Christie
Pandoras Box in previous years, Daniel knew he could rely on the system and was
excited about the capabilities that version 6.0 offered. “When I saw the specification
I realised I could make good use of the new features the PB system offered,’ he
commented. “With a small technical team running such a huge show, I found the
whole workflow a lot simpler and easier. I was managing multi-track recording and
30 channels of audio, which had to be synced with video and it all went very
smoothly. The performances went down really well and I’m already looking forward
to next year’s event.’

Christie® Pandoras Box 6.0 combines the newest rendering technology with
intuitive media and show control. Pandoras Box is used around the world for live
experiences including multi-media events, and projection mapping, and the system
can be set up as a standalone playback device, network playback client or in
console mode for direct DMX Control.

Among its many new features, 6.0 offers a Mesh Editing Mode, which helped the
production team quickly create the different warp files required. The new Multi-
preview feature also allowed Daniel to pre-program the show much faster than in
previous years and with much more of an overview of the content. The proscenium
surrounding the stage was also required to change colour at particular times during
the live performance, in combination with lighting. This was achieved by giving the
lighting console live control over the proscenium effects, while the rest of the show
was running from multiple sequences.

Pandoras Box 6.0 will be taking centre stage on the Christie stand at ISE 2017
where its capabilities will be broadcast via a huge 16 x 5m fully interactive display.
