Musiek Trivia, a new quiz show airing on DSTV’s Kyknet, recently contracted Blond Productions to provide the technical and set design for the new TV programme. The show, which features two contestants competing against each based on music trivia, has a polished production value.

Blond Productions’ Pieter Rieck and Christian Ballot worked on ESP Vision to come up with three potential designs while using the GrandMA console to execute them.
The television studio at ZSE from which Musiek Trivia is broadcast, is a small, compact area so the Blond Productions duo came up with a plan to utilize truss pillars or totems (6 x Pieces).

The lighting fixtures, 12 Robe MMXs and 6 Robe 600 Beams, were rigged on the totems. “The MMXs are brilliant I saw them at Mediatech for the first time last year and said I wanted 12,’ said Rieck. “In addition we used the Robe 600s at full level, 24 x Bright Q LED Panels and 10 x Source Fours on the rest of the set.’

Rieck, who has extensive television industry experience, was very particular about how he wanted the stage lighting to look. “I didn’t want to flood with white light but wanted to create mood. This is also one of those game shows where if you skip a cue you’ve missed it and have to start all over again,’ he concluded.
