The 5FM Music Festival is setting the stage to rock the seaside town of Jeffrey’s Bay. Teaming up with Billabong and Nissan Juke, 5FM, is planning a 3 day music festival from 13-15 July 2012. The sound, stage, lighting, and production of the 5FM music festival will be supplied by Gearhouse SA.
The design has been put together by Gearhouse SA’s Philip Chames and Ryan Shepherd especially for the event and will include a 38 metre wide Main Stage with 6m wide by 14 m high PA wings. Flanking the Main Stage, 5mx 4 m LED screens, provided by sister company LEDVision, will relay a mix of live camera feed from four cameras around the area as well as custom made content.
A strong geometric motif runs throughout the design. The Main Stage will sport a colour changing checkerboard across the backdrop and extending over the PA towers. The checkerboard will be created using 2m white squares which will be lit from within. The Gearhouse Lighting team will be using a combined Mac and Robe rig of moving lights together with plenty of generics
A separate DJ Electro Stage will create the illusion of a freestanding cube balanced on its apex and will generate loads of eye candy with 2 x 10k projectors transforming the 5 x 5m front surface into a colourful moving landscape of projection and crazy up-lighting to “float” the stage whilst the DJ operates from within the centre.
A 32 Flashlight Audio rig on the main stage boosted by 12 flood subs and a separate dv Dosc System with 4 Turbo subs either side of the Electro Stage is guaranteed to deliver more than the requisite oomph and clarity for this type of music festival.
The festival will also consist of live dance arenas and the world’s number one dance label, Ministry of Sound will be taking control of the dance floor on Saturday night, bringing some of the hottest tracks on the planet to Jeffrey’s Bay.
As with many festivals across the globe, festival goers will have the option to camp on site for the full 3 days, and food and beverages will be available. The free camp site will be equipped with all the necessary amenities.
Tickets are available at Computicket at R200 per day or R400 for the entire 3 days, camping included.
