Pieter Toerien although well known for his presentations of large scale musicals has for the last 6 years also been responsible for a series of highly successful “bonsai’ musicals staged at his Monte Casino and Theatre on the Bay venues.

Past productions have included, Joseph, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair, Chess and Evita with the latest offering “Sunset Boulevard’.

A common element to the shows has been the consistent Creative Team. Paul Warrick Griffiths (Director) and Charl Johan Lingenfelder (Musical Director) have worked alongside Prosound’s Mark Malherbe who has been the sound designer for every production. Prosound has also been the chosen audio supplier for all of these shows.

“Sunset’ uses a dual rig of Meyer Sound M1D compact line array loudspeaker systems, the primary system being a left/right hang for the auditorium coverage, whilst discrete single units are built into the set providing not only cast monitoring but also acting as a point source for the band origination.

Making its debut at the Pieter Toerien theatre is the DL.3 Digital Light Projector. The DL.3 (Digital Light 3) fixture merges video projection and automated lighting technologies with a DMX controllable digital media server housed in a moving yoke fixture.

All cast microphones are “hidden’ DPA 4061’s.
