The Johannesburg leg of the Cons Project, a global initiative by shoe manufacturer Converse, occurred in Braamfontein from 30 May to 1 June, brought to South Africa by Mixed Apples and sponsored by Viva Afrika.
The Cons Project aims to promote and showcase the Cons brand with the incorporations of skateboarding, art, music and fashion into empty spaces and venues across the world. It was an “open to the public’ event where attendees are encouraged to enjoy what is on offer and take part in skateboarding, graffiti, beat-boxing and DJ workshops.
Viva Afrika, one of South Africa’s leading technical equipment distributors and manufacturers, sponsored the audio system for the event which included two Hybrid+ EXS218 subwoofers (dual-18′), four EX152 (dual-15′ mid/highs), three A5000 amplifiers. Viva Afrika also sponsored three Numark M6USB mixers and three NDX400 CD/MP3/USB players for each “listening station’ where attendees could listen to various mixes prepared by the DJs involved in the project while giving the public a chance to get acquainted with Numark equipment.
