Prosound have launched a versatile new studio space close to their corporate head offices in Hillfox. In partnership with Cool Music, who will run the facility, the well-known AV integration business is branching into live studio recording and performance.
The intimate theatre-like space can accommodate an audience of up to 140 people, with FOH, stage and backstage facilities with backline and drum kit, and a complete sound and lighting rig. The space is ideal for product launches, conferences and small-scale concerts, while also providing space for musicians to rehearse and record.
All the feeds received from the performance venue can be sent up to the on-site recording studio control room for live recording of up to 40 channels. The control room and vocal booth comprising the studio have a unique view over the live stage and venue, and contain a full range of high-end recording equipment, including:
• Logic Pro X or Cubase 6, through a Midas Venus F console
• In-studio monitoring via Dynaudio BM6-mk111 studio monitors
• Audio Technica, DPA and EV mics, and top of the range Audio Technica 5040, 4080 Ribbon Studio Mics and AKG 414 BULS
The live venue also boasts a range of top quality equipment, including Midas M32 or Midas Pro 1 consoles, a 6 metre wide motorised screen, Christie projectors, Martin Moving heads and ETC theatre lights.
The studio opened its doors on May 4 with a seamless and highly enjoyable set from blues band The Oh So Serious, followed by a stomping acoustic set from local luminary Jesse Clegg.
