ISE 2016 sees leading audio innovator Alcons Audio enjoying a comprehensive
presence with a number of treats for visitors’ ears, showcasing the company’s
ongoing pursuit of audio perfection.
As official “ISE Technology Partner’, Alcons pro-ribbon sound systems can be
enjoyed on different locations on the ISE show floor, among which the Audio

However, the best opportunity to hear what the Alcons “pro-ribbon fuzz’ is all
about, is visiting the “Alcons Pro-Ribbon Immersive Experience’; supporting Alcons’
claim of bringing “HiFi at concert Sound Pressure Levels’ in any size application.
In a joint-collaboration with different suppliers, Alcons set-up a unique acoustically-
optimized listening room on her stand, where a 13.1 channel pro-ribbon surround
system can be experienced.
With the Alcons stand positioned in Hall 6, between Hall 1 and Hall 7 (“audio hall’),
passing visitors can participate in this immersive audio experience.
The system is based on the new CRMS Cinema Reference Monitor System, with
CRMSCompact surrounds, both based on Alcons’ multiple-patented pro-ribbon
transducer technology, and entirely AES3 driven by Sentinel digital amplified
On the stand, and appealing to the CEDIA side of ISE, Alcons is introducing no less
than 3 new products for the Custom Install cinema market, as extension of the
CRMS systems. This reference product group is dedicatedly designed for high-end
home-theatre, screening room and studio environments and has been installed,
a.o., at Walt Disney, NBC Universal, Lucasfilm, Factory studios and a fast growing
number of home theatres worldwide.
These additions comprise the CRMS-SRIW, a two-way reference high-output pro-
ribbon surround system with 8′ woofer and 4′ Alcons proprietary pro-ribbon
mid/high transducer with 800W peak power handling for in-wall mounting and as
such complementing the CRMS screen system.
The CRMSC-SRIW is the in-wall surround equivalent for the CRMSCompact screen
system, featuring a 6.5′ reflex-loaded woofer and 2′ Alcons proprietary pro-ribbon
mid/high transducer with a surprisingly high 1:15 RMS-to-peak dynamic range.
Third addition is the CRMSC-SRHOR, which is the CRMSC on-wall surround but then
in horizontally-arranged configuration, for lower-ceiling and/or above-screen
positioning. All CRMSC surrounds are acoustically identical to the mid-high section
of the CRMSC screen system, offering an seamless imaging and tonal balance
throughout the room.
Also on the stand, Alcons will show a.o. the RR12 point-source array and the unique
QR24 line-source column, the perfect solution for crystal-clear, undistorted sound
reproduction in acoustically-challenging rooms, without the need for electronic
