Robe has once again set the bar for multi-functional moving light fixtures with the
global release of the much anticipated MegaPointe in September of this year. DWR
Distribution, the sole distributor of Robe products in South Africa, presented this
revolutionary unit to the South African market at a launch, hosted at their offices in
Johannesburg recently.

Robe international sales director, Harry von den Stemmen and product manager
Ondrej Hegar took the MegaPointe through its paces for attendees, demonstrating the
fixture’s versatility, brightness, amazing colour mixing technology and, most
impressive, the range of gobos and effects incorporated into Robe’s new product
offering.

Speaking to Pro-Systems at the launch, von den Stemmen states: “We are very
pleased that DWR hosts events of this nature, as it provides people with the
opportunity to experience new equipment first-hand.’ He adds that: “We have to
make sure, as manufacturers, that we introduce new equipment within a reasonable
time frame across all of the regions that we serve, to ensure that nobody is
disadvantaged. Working in close collaboration with DWR ensures that end users in the
South African market have an equal opportunity to access new product offerings.’
Hegar, who led the practical demonstration of the MegaPointe states that: “The
MegaPointe is doing really well across the world, and I firmly believe that we will have
similar success in South Africa.’ When questioned about what he feels differentiates
the MegaPointe from other product on the market, Hegar states that the unit’s unique
effects – especially the prism engine – are notable and bring something new and
exciting to the hybrid moving light market.

The launch was well attended by various stakeholders in the live events industry –
reflecting the unique relationship that DWR has established with its customer base
over the years. Eminent lighting designer Joshua Cutts told Pro-Systems: “This is – as
always – a great launch by DWR.’ Commenting on his impression of the product,
Cutts told Pro-Systems that: “I feel that the MegaPointe’s greatest strength is that it
is an extremely versatile unit, which I see fitting well into the full family of Robe
fixtures that I use regularly.’

Stuart Andrews of the Gearhouse Group added to the positive feedback following the
product demonstration, stating that he felt the MegaPointe was a “fantastic product.’
In response to being questioned about how he felt the MegaPointe would be received,
he said: “I think that it is going to clean up the market, and with DWR behind it, we
are confident of getting the support that we need.’

Director of DWR Distribution, Duncan Riley expressed his confidence in the new Robe
MegaPointe, stating that: “I am very happy with the product that Robe has brought to
the market.’ He added his thanks for the support shown at the MegaPointe launch –
both from DRW’s customer base as well as from Robe. DWR’s Cape Town office will be
hosting a similar event on 6 November.
