GLP has returned to the rich heritage of its origins in developing a unique discharge
source, which is set for its major world launch at Prolight + Sound 2016 (Frankfurt
Messe, April 5-8, booth 4.0. G19).

GLP has designed the new GT-1 to be the Ultimate Hybrid Fixture, working as a
Spot, Beam and Wash fixture with the highest level of performance.

Using a high powered 470W discharge lamp its high quality optical system produces
a beam that features an enormous 22:1 ratio zoom range, from 2.5° to 55°.

In Spot mode the fixture offers a wide range of effects, including CMY colour
mixing, eight rotating gobos, 14 fixed pattern gobos, additional beam reduction
gobos and an interchangeable animation wheel. It also features three different
rotating prisms, a fixed colour wheel with CTO/CTB filters and a wash effect for
softening the beam.

In Beam mode the GT-1 delivers a powerful parallel beam of light at 2.5° through
its large 145° diameter front lens, which remains bright and consistent over long
distances.

Finally, GLP’s latest luminaire features the trademark design for which the German
manufacturer is known — a unique baseless chassis, inbuilt wireless DMX control,
full 16-bit pan and tilt movement and full range dimming and shuttering capabilities.

Add to that an in-built battery for fixture set-up, an auto-sensing power supply and
a low weight of just 25kg and you can see why the enormous versatility of the GT-1
makes it so ideal for any number of applications.

GLP founder Udo Kunzler, believes the fixture will surprise a number of younger
LDs, familiar only with the company’s game-changing impression LED fixtures.
“Discharge is nothing new for us — it’s where the whole GLP journey began, and
we’re pleased to be exploring the possibilities of this technology once again to
deliver a unique solution.’

The GT-1 is far from being the only world premiere on the stand, as GLP will also
reveal a new Battery and Wireless DMX pack for the X4 Atom. This accessory will
provide flexibility to any existing Atom head, enabling it to work in any location.
Like the head itself, the box is IP65-rated for outdoor use and will have a run time
of eight hours and is fully rechargeable. Wireless DMX is provided by Lumen Radio’s
award-winning technology.

The X4 atom, in fact, will also be getting its first major European showing. With its
quad colour, tiny chassis and single high power source it is designed for a variety of
markets where it will fit effortlessly into the tightest spaces available. The fact that
it has a 9-to-1 zoom ratio that goes from a wide 34° wash down to a tight 3.5°
beam for pinpoint accuracy and great mid-air effects, gives it enormous scope.

These fixtures will line up alongside the company’s 2015 success story, the X4 Bar
10 and X4 Bar 20, within a fresh stand concept situated inside the newly appointed
lighting hall. There will be regular show presentations designed by the award
winning LD Bjorn Hermann – and trademark German beer on tap as a further
incentive to welcome visitors.
