A representative from Listen Technologies Corporation, a leading designer,
manufacturer and distributor of assistive listening products, recently served on a
panel at The Church Network 2015 59th Annual National Conference in Nashville,
Tennessee. Maile Keone, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Listen
Technologies, participated in “Achieving Accessible, Inclusive Churches,’ a panel
discussion on accommodating worshippers with hearing loss. The panel was
moderated by Joseph Montano, Ed.D., and other panel participants included church
leaders Rev. Lewis Groce, Dan van Goidtsnoven RCDD, Steve Anderson, and Larry
Nelson.

Keone’s participation in this panel is part of Listen’s ongoing efforts of advocacy and
outreach on the subject of hearing loss and the tools in place to serve those
afflicted with it. Listen considers hearing loss a public health concern, and as a
thought leader in the field, Listen makes the most of each opportunity it has to
educate consumers, facility owners, contractors and installers, clergy and church
leadership and more on the realities (both legal and practical) of hearing loss
accommodation.

Topics addressed by the panel included overall awareness of assistive listening
solutions; adoption rates of such technology and the role that church leaders play;
potential risks in not being proactive in accommodating worshippers with hearing
loss; the evaluation and installation process; structural considerations; approximate
costs; overall benefits; and more.

“The panel was a success, and I was happy to participate and give my perspective
and that of Listen Technologies,’ stated Keone. “It was illuminating and thoughtful,
and I hope that I contributed as much as I learned from the other panelists. It was a
delight to be involved, and I am proud to have represented Listen at this important
forum.’
