Attendees at ISE 2018 will have the chance to experience the latest in 3D projection mapping creativity, technical and production skills just a short boat ride from the exhibition hall.
The World Masters of Projection Mapping is an exciting new competition based in Amsterdam with both the final and awards’ presentation happening during ISE 2018. It’s being produced by Amsterdam Light Festival, ISE and the RAI Amsterdam.
The artistic and technical challenge for five shortlisted video artists will be to create a work of video art to be mapped onto the three-dimensional architecture of the futuristic EYE Filmmuseum, to be experienced, uniquely, from multiple viewpoints. Contestants will also be projecting onto two 40m x 15m water screens. Projectors, supplied by Panasonic, will be positioned around the futuristic building on a variety of platforms.
The judging, led by Amsterdam Light Festival creative director Lennart Booij, will take place on 8 February and the winner will be announced at ISE on the morning of 9 February at a special showcase event featuring the five finalists.
ISE attendees will be able to view the finalists’ artistic 3D-light displays from boats sailing on the IJ throughout the show. Viewing is also possible from the quay near Central Station and the nearby Amsterdam Tower.
ISE has teamed up with Artifex to offer a range of boat cruises to the competition site. These are suitable for ISE exhibitors looking to provide a unique evening of corporate entertainment or for individuals who want to relax and be inspired after a busy day at the show.
