Over the past four consecutive Saturday mornings, BC Electronics, a leading retail outlet for the live entertainment industry in Cape Town, has played host to some of the most talented and passionate Gospel bands in the region. While the joy of Gospel music and the opportunity for Gospel bands to get to know each other and support each other is a winning outcome in itself, the BC Electronics Gospel Band Competition offers finalists the opportunity to walk away with some amazing prizes.

The twelve bands who were pre-selected to take part in the competition have performed in heats hosted at BC Electronic’s fully-equipped demonstration space at their premises. “All of the bands that have taken part in the competition have been outstanding. Participants have supported each other and have been very giving as musicians. The past four weeks have been extremely inspiring for all involved,” states Astrid Castle, general manager at BC Electronics.

The three bands who have been selected to compete in the final of the competition, to be held at BC Electronics on 7 July, are:

  • Die Bron Worship Team, from Bellville CT
  • The Christ Revelation Church Band (previously The Full Restoration Church), from Goodwood, CT
  • Real Life Christian Centre Worship Band, from Bishop Lavis, CT

The BC Electronics Gospel Band Competition is being supported by some of the country’s leading equipment distributors. For the first place prize, Viva Afrika has provided a Hybrid+ Powered Atlas combo speaker system valued at R75 000. For the band in second place, MIDI Music has provided a Marshall Code 100 guitar amp, an Ibanez GS270 electric guitar and a Tama Rhythm Mate drum kit valued at 30 000. Wild&Marr have contributed three Shure SM58 corded microphones, valued at R9000, for the third place prize.

Pro-Systems Africa News wishes all three finalists the best of luck, and we look forward to chatting with the winners after the finals on Saturday 7 July.
