The TPSA (Technical Production Services Association) held their annual awards ceremony on the evening of the 19th of August 2013, at a banquet function at The Venue, Melrose Arch. The who’s who of the technical production services industry came out to support their colleagues, friends and competitors alike.
The TPSA awards evening was introduced in 2002 by members of the committee in order to boost morale and encourage respect between members.
Members are allowed to vote for anyone in the industry provided they are deserving of the award. These votes then go to an adjudicating committee who overseas that the awards are selected fairly and are a true representation of the votes received.
There were 17 award categories which reflected the various disciplines within the industry and two Hall of fame awards.
The TPSA Awards 2012 winners are as follows:

3. Lighting Designer of the Year – Joshua Cutts
4. Best Newcomer – Lighting Designer – Renaldo van der Berg
5. AV Engineer of the Year – Denzil Smith
6. Best Newcomer – AV Engineer – Dave Thompson
7. Best Set Designer of the Year – Robert Hoey
8. Best Rigger of the Year – Kendall Dixon
9. Favourite Sound Rental Company – Matrix Sound
10. Favourite Lighting Rental Company – Gearhouse
11. Favourite AV Rental Company – AV Unlimited
12. Favourite Set & Stage Company – Dream Sets
13. Favourite Special Effects Company – Starburst Pyrotechnics
14. Favourite Technical Venue – Sandton Convention Centre
15. Favourite Technical Staging Company – Gearhouse
16. Favourite Backline Company – SA Backline
17. Production Manager of the Year – Mark Daubeney
18. Hall of Fame – Robbie Blake
19. Hall of Fame – Kentse Mpahlwa
